In this program, singer Kristen Cornwell (Aus/B) presents *Songs of Love and Resistance*.
She performs both classics from the 60s and 70s by Joni Mitchell, Buffalo Springfield, among others, as well as more recent and captivating pop songs. All of this in her unique style. Kristen not only possesses a magnificent voice and technical perfection, but she also performs her songs with warmth, empathy, and emotion.
She is accompanied by guitarist Patrick Deltenre, who played for years alongside Maurane, Axelle Red, Viktor Lazlo, among others; and bassist Christophe Devisscher, a versatile jazz and session musician, with more than 30 albums to his credit in jazz, pop, and folk.
Together, Kristen, Patrick (guitar), and Christophe (double bass) create a warm and original sound, full of love. An evening full of atmosphere with a touch of 'resistance'.

"Kristen Cornwell, born in Australia, grew up in a family of musicians. In 1989, she graduated with a degree in jazz from the Australian National University (Institute of Arts). Until 2004, she taught in Australia as a vocal teacher, guest lecturer, and ensemble coach. She also worked on her own projects, releasing two successful albums and collaborating with artists such as James Morrison, Don Burrows, Scott Hamilton, Carl Orr, Sandy Evans, and The Australian Art Orchestra.
In 2004, Cornwell decided to further her studies and moved to Belgium. She trained at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where she earned a Master’s degree.
At the end of 2004, she was invited by Michel Bisceglia and Jean Blaute to participate in the *History of Jazz* tour across Flemish cultural centers. She formed her own quintet with Pascal Schumacher (LUX) on vibraphone, Frederik Leroux (B) on guitar, Dennis Frehse (D) on drums, and Christophe Devisscher (B) on bass.
She has been working on personal projects and teaching since 2005 at the Municipal Conservatory of Mechelen, as well as from 2007 to 2013 at the Conservatory of Ghent. In 2007, she went into the studio with her quintet, resulting in the album *Distant Skies*.
In 2010, her fourth album, *Duke Ellington’s Sound of Love*, was recorded.
In 2018, she released the album *Spoonful: Back to the Blues* with a trio, without drums.
In 2024, she is launching her new project *Songs of Love and Resistance*.

He studied double bass and bass guitar at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and took masterclasses with, among others, Hein Van de Geyn, Charlie Haden, and Michel Hatzigeorgiou.
He was a member of the internationally acclaimed Alexi Tuomarila Quartet (1998 - 2003) and Pascal Schumacher Quartet (2002 - 2013).
As a sideman, he has collaborated with artists such as Lee Konitz, Michel Herr, Johan Verminnen, Pierre Van Dormael, Joe Lovano, Judy Niemack, Rocco Granata, Martin Taylor, Steve Houben, Scott Hamilton, Deborah Carter, Rabih Abou-Khalil, Eric Vloeimans, the Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Johan Clement, Andy Middleton, Tony Christie, and Philip Catherine.
Christophe has performed in clubs, venues, and festivals across Europe, Asia, Africa, America, and Oceania. He has composed several pieces and appears on over 30 studio albums. See Christophe Devisscher."
Patrick Deltenre started in the 19704s in the world of cover bands and dance halls and studied at the Liège Conservatory.
He was the longtime guitarist for the late Maurane, and later for over ten years for Axelle Red. He contributed to the successful albums *À Tâtons* and *Toujours Moi*.
He has worked both live and as a session musician with an incredibly long list of other artists in jazz, pop, and blues, including: Viktor Lazlo, Isabelle Antena, David Links, Calvin Owens, Jo Lemaire, Philippe Lafontaine, Adamo, Lara Fabian, a few concerts with Marc King (Level 42), Kris Debruyne, Richard Galliano, and Marcia Maria.
Since 2016, he has been working with Kristen Cornwell’s trio.
He is currently playing with, among others, B.J. Scott, Ivan Paduart & Patrick Deltenre, *What a Wonderful Toots*... He is undoubtedly one of the most in-demand sidemen in Belgium in the pop, jazz, blues, and rock genres."

Kristen Cornwell, geboren in Australië, groeide op in een muzikale familie. In 1989 behaalde ze haar bachelordiploma in Jazz aan het Australian National University (Institute of Arts). Tot 2004 gaf ze les in Australië, als zangdocente, gastdocente en docente vocaal ensemble. Ze werkteaan eigen projecten met twee succesvolle albums en samenwerkingen met o.a James Morrison, Don Burrows, Scott Hamilton, Carl Orr, Sandy Evans en The Australian Art Orchestra.
In 2004 besloot Cornwell om haar opleiding verder te zetten en trok daarvoor naar België. Daar genoot ze een opleiding aan het Koninklijk conservatorium te Brussel. Ze behaalde er een Master diploma.
Eind 2004 werd ze gevraagd door Michel Bisceglia en Jean Blaute om mee te werken aan de succesvolle History of Jazz tour doorheen de Vlaamse culturele centra. Ze richtte haar eigen kwintet op met. Hij werkte jaren als vaste gitarist van de betreurde Maurane, en nadien meer als tien jaar voor Axelle Red. Hij werkte mee aan de succesalbums. "A Tâtons" en "Toujours Moi".
Hij werkte zowel live, en als sessiemuzikant, samen met een waanzinnig lange lijst van andere artiesten in jazz, pop en blues, waaronder : Viktor Lazlo, Isabelle Antena, David Links, Calvin Owens, Jo Lemaire, Philippe Lafontaine, Adamo, Lara Fabian, enkele concerten met Marc King (Level 42), Kris Debruyne, Richard Galliano, Marcia Maria.
Hij werkt sinds 2016 met het trio Kirsten Cornwell.
Hij speelt heden o.a; bij bij B.J. Scott, Ivan Paduart & Deltenre , What a wonderfull Toots, en is ongetwijfelde een van Belgisch meest gevraagde sideman in pop jazz blues en rock
